Energy-Saving Retrofit of Shanxi Senze's 12MW Back-Pressure Unit #2, an EPC Project, Passes Final Acceptance
On December 3, 2025, the energy-saving acceptance was successfully passed for the Energy Performance Contracting (EPC) project—the 12MW Back-Pressure Energy Efficiency Retrofit of Unit #2 at Shanxi Senze Coal & Aluminum Group. This project was fully invested in and implemented by our company under the EPC model. Since its one-time successful startup and grid connection on November 11, 2025, all operational parameters have remained normal and stable. This project represents the third successful energy-saving retrofit collaboration between the two companies, building upon the previous completions of the EPC projects for Unit #1 and Unit #3. We hereby express our warm congratulations.

The original unit operated under the following conditions: a rated steam flow of 90 t/h, inlet steam pressure of 8.83 MPa, temperature of 535°C, and back-pressure exhaust steam at 0.785 MPa. With an installed capacity of 12 MW and a maximum output of 15 MW, it was a highly energy-intensive unit. It suffered from severe steam leakage through both front and rear gland seals, poor flow path efficiency, and low internal efficiency, resulting in a high specific steam consumption. Furthermore, its startup time exceeded ten hours, rendering it highly uneconomical and inefficient in operation.

Following the complete replacement of the original energy-intensive unit with our company's high-efficiency model, the unit's energy performance has improved significantly, with startup time reduced to under four hours. A comparative analysis by both partners under equivalent pre- and post-retrofit conditions confirmed remarkable energy savings. The project has now successfully passed the energy-saving acceptance test.Under rated operating conditions, the measured energy efficiency improvement reached 28.7%, saving 3,700 kW/h of electricity. When operating under a stable long-term load of 14 MW, energy savings exceed 4,000 kW/h. Both the energy conservation and economic benefits have far surpassed initial expectations.
