YTS’s 60MW Extraction-Condensing Steam Turbine Energy-Saving Retrofit EMC Project Successfully Started Operation and Connected to the Grid for Power Generation
Recently, the 60MW extraction-condensing steam turbine flow-path energy-saving retrofit and efficiency improvement Energy Management Contract (EMC) project for Shandong Binzhou Iron & Steel, invested and constructed by Anhui Yuteshuang Energy Conservation Technology Co., Ltd., has successfully completed start-up, grid connection, and power generation. We would like to extend our warm congratulations on this achievement.

The original turbine model of the owner’s unit was C60-8.83/0.98//535. Due to the lack of technological upgrades for more than a decade, the unit had inherent high steam consumption caused by limitations in its flow-path structure design. The turbine suffered from low internal efficiency, overly simplified blade profiles, insufficient power output capability at the high-pressure end before the extraction port, and a mismatch between the original flow-path design and actual operating conditions, resulting in poor overall operating efficiency.
This energy-saving retrofit project optimized and upgraded the original turbine flow-path structure. The pressure-stage blade profiles before the extraction port were redesigned and replaced, with matching diaphragm optimization to enhance the flow-path power output capability. A complete set of steam seals was replaced to reduce steam leakage and ensure more effective utilization of steam energy. The high-pressure nozzle group was redesigned and the flow-path structure was optimized to further improve the turbine’s power output performance. In addition, auxiliary equipment was overhauled, and the electrical control system was reconfigured, thereby reducing exhaust temperature, improving vacuum performance under the same operating conditions, directly generating energy-saving electricity output, and creating significant economic benefits.

After the unit successfully started operation, connected to the grid, and generated electricity, YTS has achieved nearly one month of safe operation. Compared with the same period and identical operating conditions in previous years, the predicted energy-saving and efficiency improvement rate is approximately 11%. Under the same 45MW electrical load condition and inlet steam parameters, the energy-saving electricity output is expected to exceed 5,000 kWh, generating annual economic benefits of no less than RMB 13 million. Meanwhile, YTS strictly fulfilled all contractual obligations in equipment manufacturing and supply, turbine dismantling, installation, commissioning, and other aspects of project execution. The project has received high recognition from the owner, achieving a win-win outcome through energy-saving technological transformation.
The successful start-up, grid connection, and power generation of this project not only add another benchmark achievement for YTS in steam turbine flow-path energy-saving retrofit and efficiency improvement Energy Management Contract projects, but also establishes a solid performance foundation for expanding the Shandong regional market. YTS sincerely welcomes potential energy-consuming enterprises to visit and exchange ideas, working together toward mutually beneficial cooperation and contributing to the implementation of China’s dual-carbon strategy.
