China Shenhua reveals the operation plan of 12 thermal power units

Polaris Power Network learned that on November 18, China Shenhua announced that regarding the power construction projects, there are 4 coal-fired power generation projects and 2 gas-fired power generation projects in China Shenhua in 2024, with a total of 12 units and about 8 million kilowatts of installed capacity. It is mainly located in Guangdong, Guangxi, Jiangxi, and Indonesian South Summer. Up to now, the company's second phase of the gas-heat and power generation two-unit machine combination of about 1 million kilowatts has been put into operation. With the advancement of the country's latest round of optimized power point layout work, the company seized the window period of thermal power development during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period and carried out renovation and expansion projects in existing high-quality power points. The Guangdong Shijiao Thermal Power Project is expected to be completed and put into operation by the end of 2024, and the Indonesian Nansu No. 1 supercritical coal-fired power generation project is expected to be completed and put into operation in March 2025. The total of 6 million kilowatt units of Jiujiang Phase II, Beihai Phase II and Qingyuan Phase II is expected to be completed and put into operation by the end of 2025 or early 2026.

Regarding whether the power plant can achieve profitability, the company put into operation in four coal-fired generator sets in Yueyang, Hunan and Qingyuan, Guangdong, with a total installed capacity of 4 million kilowatts. From January to September this year, the two power plants sold 4.91 billion kWh and 9.61 billion kWh respectively, both achieving profitability.

Regarding the increase in power generation, from January to September 2024, my country's large-scale power plants generated 7.056 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 5.4% year-on-year. The amount of hydropower and solar power generation is growing rapidly, while the number of hours of thermal power equipment utilization is declining. The industrial thermal power generation above the designated size was 4.743.9 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 1.9% year-on-year, accounting for 67.2% of the national power generation. The company plays the role of coal-fired power guarantee, coordinates the competition for price guarantee, spot trading and thermal marketing, and achieves high starting rate, high load rate, and long-term continuous operation. From January to September, the power generation was 168.14 billion kWh, an increase of 7.6% year-on-year. In the third quarter, the power generation was 64.1 billion kWh, an increase of 14.4% year-on-year, which is better than the growth rate of thermal power generation above a certain scale in the country. The reason for the growth is that it benefits from the growth of electricity demand; the second is that the company's contribution to the increase in generator sets was put into operation last year. The company's power plants located in Sichuan, Chongqing, Guangdong and Fujian regions have increased significantly year-on-year.
