Central enterprises' thermal power plants are growing "green" to help the coal-fired power industry move towards "newness"
On June 5, at the "Representatives and Members Entering National Energy" enterprise open day event, 15 deputies to the National People's Congress in Jiangsu, Jiangsu Province, Taizhou City, Changzhou Municipal People's Congress representatives and CPPCC members visited the State Energy Group Taizhou Power Generation Co., Ltd. and Changzhou Power Generation Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Taizhou Company and Changzhou Company) to understand the development situation.
During the event, the visiting group visited the science and technology exhibition hall, the second phase control room, boiler, dock, CCUS, etc., and felt the green and low-carbon transformation and development of Taizhou Company and Changzhou Company on the spot. The company's heads focused on introducing the achievements in promoting the green and low-carbon transformation and development of thermal power with new quality productivity, and held discussions.
"The model in front of us was made at a ratio of 1:380, showing the full picture of Taizhou Power Plant. The first and second phases of Taizhou Power Plant have built 4 million-kilowatt coal-fired generator sets, which are currently one of the largest thermal power generation companies in Jiangsu Province. It is that these 4 units can generate 4 million kilowatts of electricity in one hour at full load." The interpreter introduced in the science and technology exhibition hall.
Taizhou Power Plant focuses on power generation as its main business and continues to innovate and create. In the process of development, overcome technical difficulties and build the first set of "Million Second Reheat". It is understood that the secondary reheating technology effectively improves power generation efficiency and reduces unit coal consumption. Based on the annual power generation of 13 billion kilowatt-hours, the two units in the second phase can save about 480,000 tons of standard coal in a year and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 1.3 million tons, which is equivalent to planting 11.7 million trees.
Data shows that as of the end of 2023, Taizhou Company had a total power generation of 266.58 billion kWh and a total heating supply of 17.855 million tons; since the two 630MW supercritical units of Changzhou Company were put into production, the total power generation of 129.6 billion kWh...
Guoneng Changzhou Company takes clean and efficient large units as its core, and is responsible for the second phase of the two million-kilowatt unit projects, focusing on the innovation demonstration concept of the "166" project, and aims to build a leading "14th Five-Year Plant" to build a "six-type power station" with the goal of building a leading "14th Five-Year Plant", and strives to build a "six-type power station" for safe, reliable, efficient and flexible, clean and low-carbon, intelligent, joint production and supply, and coupled development.
Through technological innovations such as desulfurization double tower dual circulation, low-nitrogen burner and denitrification SCR, wet electrostatic dust removal, and condensation and wet removal, the emission of major pollutants has been greatly reduced, achieving ultra-low emissions of pollutants including SO2, NOx, dust, and coordinated removal of pollutants such as SO3, Hg, etc., fully meeting the pollutant-friendly emission standards requirements of Jiangsu Province.
In September 2020, China clearly proposed the goal of "carbon peak and carbon neutrality". Under the "dual carbon" goal, energy is the top priority, and the coal-fired power industry is an important area for carbon emission reduction. Taizhou Power Plant accelerates the green and low-carbon transformation and plans to implement the 500,000-ton CCUS project.
"The CCUS project of Taizhou Power Plant has achieved large-scale carbon capture, providing demonstration experience for achieving near-zero emissions of coal-fired carbon dioxide in the future. In the future, with the comprehensive establishment of supporting policies such as green power trading, carbon trading, and green and low-carbon transformation of thermal power plants, it will inject more confidence into the sustainable development of coal-fired power CCUS project."
CCUS refers to the capture, utilization and storage of carbon dioxide. It refers to the industrial process of separating CO2 from industrial emission sources or directly utilizing or seizing CO2 emissions to achieve CO2 emission reduction, providing a key path for coal-electricity units to reduce carbon carbon and fix carbon. Compared with oil, gas, chemical and other industries, coal-fired carbon capture raw material gas has low carbon dioxide content, high capture difficulty, and high operating costs.
On June 2, 2023, the CCUS project of Taizhou Power Plant was officially put into operation. Up to now, it has maintained safe and stable operation. After being measured by the China Institute of Metrics and Sciences, all performance indicators are better than the National Development and Reform Commission's assessment goals and have reached the industry-leading level. Carbon dioxide products have passed the quality supervision department certification and have achieved full-volume and essentially profitable sales. At this point, the project's "double hundred, two highs and three lows" expectations have been fully reached, becoming the "double benchmark" for coal-fired power CCUS technical operation.
At the same time, in terms of promoting the construction of clean energy, the surface photovoltaics built by Taizhou Power Plant was successfully connected to the grid on December 23, 2021, and adopted a block-based power generation and centralized grid connection. Two square matrices on the water surface, a total of 34,664 components, are installed on the floating body at a 12° inclination angle to capture as much solar energy as possible. The total water surface photovoltaic capacity is 18.7 megawatts, and it can be used for more than 9,000 household solar water heaters in one day, achieving green and low-carbon development.
