The first global carrier of AP1000 will soon use "Chinese core" and Sanmen Nuclear Power's first domestic fuel module has been restocked.

　 Polaris Nuclear Power Network: On August 30, the first batch of domestic AP1000 nuclear fuel components were shipped to China National Nuclear Corporation's Sanmen Nuclear Power Plant at China National Nuclear Corporation. The world's first carrier of AP1000 will soon use "Chinese core". This is a major milestone in the localization of the third-generation nuclear power AP1000 nuclear power fuel modules, and an important symbol of achieving the strategic goal of the localization of AP1000 nuclear fuel modules. It means that the manufacturing of AP1000 nuclear fuel modules has successfully achieved localization and industrial scale, and has the foundation for continuing to provide stable supply to domestic nuclear power plants. So far, China National Nuclear Corporation has the ability to mass-manufacture the major types of nuclear fuel components in the world.

Nuclear fuel is the core of nuclear power plants and the source of power of nuclear power plants. The quality of fuel components directly affects the operation and safety of nuclear power plants. The AP1000 nuclear fuel component production line is the first AP1000 nuclear fuel component production line in China. It shoulders the important task of realizing the domestic production strategy of fuel components, and also shoulders the important mission of developing CAP1400 independent fuel components. The production line started construction on March 28, 2012, and the qualification appraisal began in April 2014, and obtained the production line qualification appraisal certificate in January 2017. In June 2017, the official production of the first fuel replacement fuel assembly of Sanmen Nuclear Power Unit 1 began.
It is understood that Sanmen Nuclear Power and China National Nuclear Power signed a domestic AP1000 fuel module supply contract in January 2017. During the contract execution process, China National Nuclear Corporation North and China National Nuclear Baotou jointly experienced process testing, product appraisal, standardized operation, and optimization of production operation process. They jointly overcome various difficulties, always adhered to the principle of "user first and quality first", completed the production task of the first fuel replacement fuel assembly of Sanmen No. 1 unit, and realized the localization of AP1000 fuel assembly; in May 2018, this batch of components successfully passed the Westinghouse Company's review; in April 2019, the components passed the factory acceptance, and all the components in the factory were in compliance. From May to August, multiple transportation tests were carried out. With the joint efforts of Sanmen Nuclear Power, Shandong Nuclear Power, China Nuclear North, China Nuclear Baotou, container designer Shanghai Nuclear Technology Institute and manufacturer, the rectification and confirmation of domestic transportation containers were completed; on August 13, 2019, the component packing work was officially started.
Leaders and representatives from Sanmen Nuclear Power, Shandong Nuclear Power, Shanghai Nuclear Technology Institute, Westinghouse, China National Nuclear North, China National Nuclear Baotou and other parties gathered at China National Nuclear North Nuclear Fuel Components Co., Ltd. to witness this moment together.
