Since 2012, my country's status as "the world's largest photovoltaic wind power manufacturer" has continued to consolidate. The golden signs of "the world's largest renewable energy production and utilization" and "the world's largest renewable energy market" have been recognized globally. The hydropower, wind power and photovoltaic power generation industries have become a shining "China's business card".

Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, under the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, the National Energy Administration has implemented precise policies and vigorously promoted the development and utilization of new energy. In the past ten years, the proportion of new energy in my country's installed power capacity has increased by nearly 4 times, reaching 26.7%, and renewable energy such as hydropower, wind power, photovoltaic power generation, and biomass power generation have achieved a leap forward development.

As of the end of 2021, the total installed capacity of renewable energy power generation in my country reached 1.063 billion kilowatts, accounting for 44.8% of the total installed capacity, an increase of 17 percentage points from 2012. Among them, the installed capacity of hydropower is 391 million kilowatts (including 36 million kilowatts of pumped storage), the installed capacity of wind power is 328 million kilowatts, the installed capacity of photovoltaic power generation is 306 million kilowatts, and the installed capacity of biomass power generation is 37.98 million kilowatts, accounting for 16.5%, 13.8%, 12.9% and 1.6% of the total installed capacity of the country, respectively, ranking first in the world for 17, 12, 7 and 4 consecutive years respectively. At the same time, the total installed capacity of solar thermal power generation reached 570,000 kilowatts, ranking third in the world.

As of the end of August 2022, the installed capacity of wind power and photovoltaic power generation both exceeded 340 million kilowatts, the industry's development momentum exceeded expectations, and the development and utilization scale was ahead of the world.

In order to ensure that the development of renewable energy is both "speed" and "quality", the National Energy Administration emphasizes that industry development must take consumption capacity as the prerequisite for development, steadily promote the implementation of a series of policies, strive to build a long-term development mechanism led by renewable energy power consumption, promote the continuous improvement of development and utilization levels, and ensure that the renewable energy industry achieves efficient development.

Data shows that in 2021, my country's renewable energy power generation reached 2.48 trillion kilowatt-hours, accounting for 29.8% of the total electricity consumption in the society, an increase of 9.8 percentage points from 2012, providing strong support for my country's solemn commitment to "contribute to 15% of non-fossil energy consumption in 2020" as scheduled.

Behind the global leading development and utilization level is the confidence given by the relatively complete renewable energy technology industry system. After ten years of development, my country's technological equipment development in multiple fields of renewable energy has reached a global leading level. Among them, the hydropower industry has the world's largest independent design and manufacturing capabilities for one million kilowatt turbine units, and the design and construction capabilities of ultra-high dams and large underground cave rooms are both leading in the world, and the intelligent construction of hydropower projects in high-altitude areas is achieved. More than 90% of domestic wind power installed capacity use domestic wind fans. Among the top ten complete machine manufacturers in the world, my country accounts for 7 and 6 respectively. "Made in China" wind turbines account for more than two-thirds of the global market share. The global market share of photovoltaic polysilicon boards, silicon wafers, cell chips and modules manufactured in my country has reached 76%, 96%, 83% and 76% respectively. Seven of the top ten companies in the world in photovoltaic modules are from China.

At present, the construction of major renewable energy projects in my country has produced fruitful results. Extra-large hydropower stations such as Xiangjiaba, Xiluodu, Wudongde, Baihetan, and Lianghekou have been put into production one after another. A number of large-scale wind power photovoltaic bases of tens of millions of kilowatts have been completed and put into operation, including Jiuquan, Gansu, Hainan, Haixi, Qingdao, Hami, and Zhundong, Xinjiang, Ordos, Xilingol League, Inner Mongolia, Zhangjiakou, Chengde, Hebei, etc., have been completed and put into operation. The construction of three large-scale wind power photovoltaic bases is being carried out in an orderly manner, drawing a new blueprint for the green and low-carbon development of my country's energy.

In its Renewable Energy Market Report 2021, the International Energy Agency clearly pointed out that "China will remain a global leader in renewable energy in the next five years." Today, here stands the first 10 million kilowatt world-class giant hydropower station in my country that was started and put into production after the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, and the Wudongde Hydropower Station, one of the major national projects of "West-to-East Power Transmission". The turbulent river water injects continuous cleaning momentum into my country's social development.

The Wudongde Hydropower Station is not only a landmark project for my country to vigorously promote the green and low-carbon transformation of energy, but also overcomes a series of world-class technical problems in its construction and creates eight world-first projects including the world's thinnest 300-meter-level hyperbolic arch dam. 15 global firsts represented by the first comprehensive application of intelligent grouting have set an important milestone in the development of my country's hydropower technology. In September this year, at the 2022 "Fidik Engineering Project Award" award ceremony, which is known as the industry's "Nobel Prize", Wudongde Hydropower Station stood out from 28 shortlisted projects and won the "Highly Praise Award", and its technical achievements attracted worldwide attention.

Over the years, the National Energy Administration has actively guided and encouraged enterprises to carry out technological research in key core areas, and promoted the gradual transformation of renewable energy development from resource-led to technological innovation-led, achieving good results.

In the field of hydropower, the concentrated completion and newly started construction of super-large projects marks a major breakthrough in my country's 300-meter-level high-concrete arch dam, 50-meter-level high-concrete panel rock pile dam, 300-meter-level high-soil center wall rock pile dam, 700-meter-level high-slope reinforcement treatment technology, giant underground cave group construction technology, complex foundation treatment technology, and million-kilowatt-level hydrowheel generator sets. my country's hydropower construction technology further leads the world.

In the field of wind power, 10 megawatt offshore wind turbines have begun mass production, and low wind speed, typhoon resistance, ultra-high towers, and ultra-high altitude wind power technology ranks among the forefront in the world. my country has the ability to independently develop and manufacture large megawatt wind power complete machines and key core components, and has established and formed an internationally competitive wind power industry system, and the technical equipment level continues to improve rapidly.

In the field of solar power generation, "Made in China" has set a new world record of photovoltaic cell conversion efficiency several times, the technical route is accelerating iteration, the research and development of perovskite and organic batteries has made continuous breakthroughs, crystalline silicon battery technology continues to lead the world, and photothermal power generation technology has entered the stage of commercialization demonstration.

The rapid iteration of technological updates has driven my country's onshore wind power and photovoltaic power generation costs to achieve a rapid decline, with the average kilowatt-hour cost in 2021 falling by 48% and 70% respectively compared with 2012. At present, my country's new wind power and photovoltaic power generation projects no longer require central government subsidies, achieving an important transformation from subsidy-driven development to market-driven development.

At the same time, in order to continuously improve the competitiveness of wind power and photovoltaic power generation markets, the National Energy Administration coordinated and actively guided various regions to carry out competitive allocation of wind power and photovoltaic power generation projects, leverage regional resource advantages to transform into economic development advantages, and lay a solid foundation for the subsequent large-scale, high-proportion and market-oriented development of the industry.

Looking back, at the critical period of my country's poverty alleviation, the National Energy Administration has coordinated and coordinated with multiple departments to base itself on its own duties and give full play to its advantages, helping poor households increase their income and drive poor villages to get rid of poverty, and benefiting the people with fruitful results.

In the past ten years, while promoting the extension of the power grid in areas without electricity, my country has actively implemented the independent power supply project of renewable energy to deliver green electricity to millions of electricity-free people. Since 2012, a total of 31 large-scale hydropower stations and 64.78 million kilowatts have been started in underdeveloped areas such as the southwest, making positive contributions to promoting local economic development and immigrants' poverty alleviation and prosperity. Innovatively implement the photovoltaic poverty alleviation project, a total of 26.36 million kilowatts of photovoltaic poverty alleviation power stations have been built, generating 18 billion yuan in power generation annually, and 1.25 million public welfare jobs have been placed, helping nearly 60,000 poor villages and 4.15 million poor households embark on the road to prosperity.

There is no end to ensure and improve people's livelihood, only a new starting point. Today, my country's wind power and photovoltaic power generation industries have become a powerful engine for economic and social development in the western region. Taking the 10 million kilowatt-level new energy base in Hainan Prefecture, Qinghai as an example, since 2012, a total of 84 photovoltaic and wind energy enterprises have been settled here, with a cumulative power generation of more than 50 billion kilowatt-hours, planted 1.04 million seedlings of various types, and developed a "photovoltaic sheep" breeding project. In 2021 alone, it achieved tax revenue of 900 million yuan, laying an important foundation for Hainan Prefecture's large-scale leapfrog development.

Improving the ecological environment is developing productivity. By vigorously promoting the development of renewable energy such as hydropower, wind power, photovoltaic power generation, my country has achieved remarkable results in reducing pollution and carbon reduction since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. Data shows that in 2021, my country's renewable energy development and utilization scale reached 753 million tons of standard coal, reducing carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxide emissions by about 2.07 billion tons, 400,000 tons and 450,000 tons, providing strong guarantees for fighting the tough battle against air pollution.

At the same time, the rapid development of renewable energy has also laid a solid foundation for my country's ecological civilization construction.
