The State Energy Group ranks first in the world in coal production, coal-electricity installed capacity, wind power installed capacity and coal-to-oil and coal-chemical industry, and has unique advantages in the entire industrial chain of coal-to-electricity and chemical transportation integration. On September 13, 2021, General Secretary Xi Jinping inspected Yulin Chemical Industry of the State Energy Group, further clarified the dominant position of coal in my country's energy structure and pointed out the direction of green and low-carbon development of coal. For a long time, the State Energy Group has innovatively practiced a new model of green development and utilization of coal throughout its life cycle, and promoted its move towards the United States in the source of coal development and utilization.

The group has built a total of 34 national-level green mines and 36 provincial-level and above green mines. Among them, Shendong Coal promoted the ecological governance area of the mining area to 473 square kilometers, and the vegetation coverage rate increased from 3-11% at the beginning of the development to 65%, and built the world's first underground coal mine; while building two world-class open-pit coal mines with a total production capacity of 69 million tons, Junneng Group successfully transformed the former "Chicken Claw" mountain into a green mining area and 10,000 mu of fertile land, with a reclamation rate of 100%; Yanbao Energy relied on the national science and technology project of "Ecological restoration and comprehensive remediation technology and demonstration of large-scale coal-fired power bases in the Eastern Grassland Area", and the waste land control rate reached 100%. While ensuring energy supply in the Northeast region, it retained the fragrance of grass for future generations; Ningmei Helan Mountain's ecological environment improvement and restoration work was praised by the National Environmental Protection Inspection Office; various enterprises planted more than 200,000 mu of "National Energy Group Ecological Forest".

At the same time, the State Energy Group actively explores the intelligent construction of coal mining. The world's first 8.8-meter super-large intelligent working surface, the Minhong operating system that has created a new era of intelligent mine construction, and the world's first extremely cold working conditions 5G+ mining truck driverless driving, etc., provide strong support for green and efficient coal mining.

The State Energy Group has an installed capacity of 193 million kilowatts of coal-fired power, accounting for 17.4% of the country. The Group has always actively promoted the clean and efficient development of the coal-fired power industry, led the development direction of the coal-fired power industry, and promoted the progress towards the beauty in the clean and efficient use of coal.

The efficient use of coal enables coal-fired power generation to meet natural gas emission standards. Unit No. 4 of Zhejiang Zhoushan Power Plant was the first to become my country's first "ultra-low emission" new coal-fired unit, and conventional atmospheric pollutants such as smoke, sulfur dioxide, and nitrogen oxides all meet the standards of gas-fired power stations.

"Thermal Power+" comprehensive energy service helps coal-fired power stations open up the walls and integrate into society. While playing the role of a "artery" and providing cities and parks with various energy supplies such as electricity, heat, cold, gas, and water, coal-fired power plants play the role of "vein" and actively participate in the treatment of solid waste such as garbage and sludge in surrounding cities. While providing green electricity, they help win the three major defense battles of blue sky, clear water and clean land.

From a longer-term development perspective, coal should open up new ways to clean utilization of fuels into raw materials. The State Energy Group takes the initiative to promote the development of the high-end, diversified and low-carbon coal chemical industry.

By continuously promoting the construction of coal-to-oil chemical innovation bases, the State Energy Group has developed into the world's largest coal-to-oil chemical enterprise.

Today's coal chemical industry has achieved nearly zero discharge of wastewater and no odor. The Ordos coal-to-oil project adopts the principles of "cleaning and diversion, pollution control, and quality reuse", and adopts different process combination modes for various types of sewage to be treated separately, and is divided and reused. Since its production, various sewage treatment devices have operated stably, exported water quality has passed, and zero sewage discharge has been achieved.

Coal chemical cleaning oil products are better than the national standard - National VI gasoline directly liquefied by coal has been mass-produced. In addition to meeting the national standard indicators, the sulfur content of automotive gasoline is less than 1 mg/kg, which is far lower than the national VI standard limit of 10 mg/kg, which greatly reduces the emission of sulfide in the exhaust gas. While improving air quality, it can also reduce engine sulfur corrosion and extend the service life of the vehicle.

Railways, ports and shipping are the three major business areas of the National Energy Group's transportation industry. In recent years, the Group has accelerated the construction of the main artery of efficient and environmentally friendly transportation and promoted its move towards the United States in terms of coal transportation.

The Shuohuang Railway, with an annual transportation capacity of 350 million tons, is the first freight heavy-duty railway in my country to win the honor of the first national environmentally friendly engineering. Through ecological greening, sewage treatment, seamless line replacement, sound insulation barrier installation and other methods, we will comprehensively promote the green development along the railway line, continuously give full play to the advantages of electrified heavy-duty railways, and promote the heavy-duty and intelligent development of my country's railway equipment into a new stage.

As China's largest coal port with more than 200 million tons of coal launched annually, Huanghua Port is the world's first bulk port to achieve full-process intelligent operations. The construction of the "Two Lakes and Three Wetlands" ecological water system, seaside green landscape belt, and natural ecological seedling base has made the port area greening area up to 1.21 million square meters. "The port is in the sea, and people are in the green", industrial civilization and natural ecology coexist harmoniously, making Huanghua Port the first 3A-level industrial scenic spot coal port in China and the first port enterprise to win the title of "China Environmental Excellence Award".

From high wind speed to low wind speed resource development, from onshore wind power to offshore wind power, from "bringing in" to "going out", from single wind power to comprehensive energy, the National Energy Group has continuously promoted my country's wind power industry to improve efficiency, reduce costs, broaden boundaries, and achieve large-scale development and high-quality development.

As of the end of 2021, my country's installed wind power capacity was about 330 million kilowatts, ranking first in the world for 12 consecutive years, becoming the world's largest wind power kingdom. Behind this world-renowned achievement, the State Energy Group's contribution to the firm promotion of the leapfrog development of new energy is also the contribution of the State Energy Group.

Based on the years of leading the development of the wind power industry, the State Energy Group aims at the dual-carbon target requirements, and the pace of green and low-carbon transformation has been accelerating. A series of supporting measures to promote the development of new energy have been successively issued: formulate a carbon peak and carbon neutrality action plan, issue guiding opinions on accelerating the development of the photovoltaic industry, establish a special working group for large-scale wind power photovoltaic base projects in deserts, Gobi and deserts, increase the authorization and delegation of new energy investment decision-making, improve assessment and incentive measures, establish a working mechanism for the top leaders of each unit to participate in and the supervisory leaders to focus on promoting the development of new energy, and regularly hold coordination and promotion meetings for new energy projects attended by the group leaders, functional departments and key units. In 2020, two new energy sources will be achieved at 5 million +, and 19.68 million kilowatts of new energy will be started in 2021, with an additional 10.89 million kilowatts of installed capacity. Among the power projects concentrated on starting construction by the State Energy Group in 2022, renewable energy accounts for 60%. It is planned to start 20 million kilowatts of new energy projects and put into production of 15 million kilowatts of new energy projects throughout the year. The 14th Five-Year Plan will add 90 million kilowatts of new energy installed capacity.

It has obtained the first batch of large-scale wind power photovoltaic base projects in the country, 13.9 million kilowatts were approved, the construction of the Qinghai Marban Hydropower Project was accelerated, Jiangsu Dongtai Offshore Wind Power won the National Quality Project Gold Award, Zhangjiakou Wind and Light Hydrogen Production and Hydrogen Storage Hydrogen Demonstration Project to help Beijing Green Winter Olympics, and the country's first tidal-optical complementary intelligent photovoltaic power station has a full capacity connected to the grid for power generation.

In order to build a clean, low-carbon, safe and efficient modern energy system, the National Energy Group has arranged emerging industries such as hydrogen energy and energy storage in an orderly manner, forming a complete new energy industry system covering wind energy, solar energy, biomass energy, tidal energy, and geothermal energy, coordinated the "base-based, station-based, coupled" development of renewable energy, accelerated the promotion of comprehensive energy projects such as "wind, light, fire storage" in the northwest, "wind, light, water storage" in the southwest, and "wind, light, gas, hydrogen storage" in the east and central areas, and used practical actions to promote the leapfrog development of new energy, and demonstrated the determination to unswervingly follow the path of green development and achieve the "dual carbon" goal.

Key core technologies are the country's important tools. Focusing on the problems of green and low-carbon energy technologies and key technologies, we have created the original technology “source” and the “chain length” of the modern industrial chain, which has effectively driven the common development of upstream and downstream enterprises in the industrial chain and led the industry to move forward with high quality.

Efficient coal mining is a key link in the green transformation of the entire industrial chain. The State Energy Group is committed to core technology research and development to provide momentum for high-quality development. Taking Shendong Coal Group as an example, the Shendong High-end Equipment R&D Center established in January 2018 focuses on breaking through the research and development of core coal production equipment, conducting full-chain research from design, materials, processes, performance, inspection and use, from easy to difficult, from small to large, from parts to whole machines, comprehensively carry out research and development of high-end coal mine equipment.

By September 2022, Shendong has developed a total of 14,544 types of equipment and parts, and has put into use 1.43 million pieces, with a total amount of 2.172 billion yuan. The product performance and quality have basically achieved alternative imports, ensuring the company's overhaul and production needs, and the work results have been remarkable. Among them, the world's first set of high-end equipment such as 8.8-meter high-quality super-large coal mining machine, 1350 liters/min super-large flow pump station, high-power ultra-thin coal seam coal mining machine, thin coal seam anchor machine, shuttle truck, anchor rod machine, etc., is of great significance to coal production enterprises and coal equipment manufacturing enterprises. It not only leads the rapid development of the coal equipment manufacturing industry, but also promotes China's coal machinery industry to the world and creates the world business card for China's coal machinery manufacturing.

In the field of coal-fired power generation, the State Energy Group actively promotes the upgrading and transformation of coal-fired power and green development, and contributes to the process of building a new power system along the path of clean, low-carbon, safe and efficient.

The development and engineering demonstration projects of efficient and flexible secondary reheating generator sets have been overcome, including efficient and flexible, ultra-low pollutant emissions, intelligent control, rapid start-stop unit, and deep peak shaving. The efficiency of the secondary reheating unit in Suqian reaches 48.11%, and the core equipment and control systems of the project are independent and controllable, laying the dominant position in the development of secondary reheating technology in my country, and is of great practical significance for promoting the clean and efficient utilization of coal and supporting the development of renewable energy.

In addition, the Group has achieved industry leadership in a number of technologies. The mixed ammonia combustion technology of coal-fired boilers can reduce the carbon dioxide emission ratio by more than 35%, exploring an effective technical path for coal-fired units to achieve significant carbon dioxide emission reduction in the future; the low-energy absorption method of carbon dioxide in coal-fired power plants of 150,000 tons/year provides technical solutions for the coal-fired power industry to achieve the "dual carbon" goal; low-cost, ultra-low emission control technology and complete sets of equipment in coal-fired power plants are used in demonstration and application in 600 megawatt-grade units; the resource-based disposal of a variety of key technologies for sludge solid waste in large coal-fired units has played an important demonstration role in promoting comprehensive energy services and circular economy development in the group system and even the industry.

Modern coal chemical industry is an important way to use coal cleanly and efficiently. From the Ordos 1.08 million tons/year direct coal liquefaction project, Baotou 600,000 tons/year coal-to-olefin (MTO) project, to the Ning coal 4 million tons/year coal indirect liquefaction project, the State Energy Group has refreshed the public's inherent understanding of coal chemical industry, conquered a number of key core technologies, and obtained coal chemical products and coal-based special fuels that are different from the petrochemical route. Promote carbon reduction at the source and terminal carbon reduction, make full use of product carbon sequestration, carry out carbon dioxide capture, storage and comprehensive utilization, and realize the coupled development of new energy such as green electricity and green hydrogen with modern coal chemical industry.

On September 19 this year, Yulin Chemical's 50,000 tons/year polyglycolic acid (PGA) biodegradable materials demonstration project was officially completed and put into production, opening up all production processes, marking the world's first 10,000 tons coal-to-polycolic acid biodegradable materials demonstration project to achieve industrial production, and has important demonstration significance and positive impact on promoting the transformation and development of my country's coal chemical industry to "high-end, diversified, and low-carbon".

As a central energy backbone enterprise striving to be the vanguard of the energy revolution, the State Energy Group, while accelerating the development of new energy, supports and drives the rapid development of domestic new energy equipment, engineering, and operation and maintenance technologies, and realizes the coordinated development of upstream and downstream enterprises in the industry.

From the construction of the world's first intertidal wind farm to the world's first single-pile sinking technology without transition section, from the installation of the world's first split 220 kV offshore booster station, to the longest 35 kV single jointless submarine cable in China, the State Energy Group has continuously cultivated and broken through new technologies in the process of wind power development, comprehensively improving the manufacturing capacity and development speed of independent research and development of offshore wind power construction equipment in my country, laying a solid foundation for large-scale development of new energy.
