Signing and Unveiling Ceremony Held for New-Generation Coal Power Research Center at National Western Energy Research Institute
On December 9th, the signing and unveiling ceremony for the New Generation Coal-fired Power Research Center of the National Western Energy Research Institute was successfully held at the company’s training base.
Yan Junjie, Standing Committee Member of the Party Committee and Vice President of Xi’an Jiaotong University; Li Guohua, Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman, and President of the China Datang Corporation Science and Technology Research Institute; Chen Weiqing, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Datang Shaanxi Power Generation Co., Ltd.; and Jin Yingqiang, Director, General Manager, and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, attended the signing and unveiling ceremony. Zhong Daotong, Deputy Director of the Base and Achievement Evaluation Department of the Research Institute of Xi’an Jiaotong University; Guo Tingting, Member of the Party Committee and Vice President of the China Datang Corporation Science and Technology Research Institute; and Jin Gang, Director, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, and Chairman of the Trade Union of Datang Shaanxi Power Generation Co., Ltd., signed the cooperation agreement on behalf of their respective parties.
Yan Junjie stated that during his journey in the field of energy and power research, he has forged a deep friendship with generations of Datang employees through their joint efforts in tackling technological challenges. Xi’an Jiaotong University will fully leverage its research and talent advantages to provide solid intellectual support and talent guarantee for the research center, jointly creating a benchmark model of university-enterprise cooperation and deep integration of industry, academia, and research. He then delivered a keynote report entitled “Cross-temporal Energy Potential Matching Mechanism of Coal-fired Power Generation and Molten Salt Thermal Storage,” providing cutting-edge ideas and scientific guidance for the upgrading of next-generation coal-fired power technology.
Li Guohua pointed out that the transformation of coal-fired power urgently requires the construction of an innovation ecosystem that deeply integrates industry, academia, and research. The Research Institute will fully leverage its technological advantages, actively establish cross-disciplinary innovation teams, and focus on building a “1447” project-based master’s and doctoral training system to create a three-dimensional talent cultivation pattern driven by “domain + region + project.” By focusing on joint research in key technology areas such as efficient and clean coal-fired power generation and energy storage technology integration, the institute will fully support the high-quality development of the Group’s western energy base.
Chen Weiqing stated that against the backdrop of the nation’s accelerated construction of a new power system, coal-fired power remains a crucial “ballast” for energy security and a “stabilizer” for power grid regulation. As the largest power generation and heating company in Shaanxi Province, Datang Shaanxi Company’s coal-fired power capacity accounts for 39% of the province’s total and a staggering 78% in the Guanzhong Plain region. The establishment of this research center by the three parties is not only an important action to implement the national energy strategy and promote the implementation of the “15th Five-Year Plan,” but also a forward-looking measure to solve the challenges of industry transformation and enhance the company’s market competitiveness.
At the event, the “National Western Energy Research Institute’s New Generation Coal-fired Power Research Center” was unveiled, and the three parties signed a cooperation agreement and released the “Blue Book on Low-Carbon and Smart Development of Datang Shaanxi Power Generation Co., Ltd.” This marks the official entry of the cooperation into a substantive implementation phase, jointly embarking on a new journey of collaborative innovation between industry, academia, and research to promote energy transformation. In the future, the three parties will focus on the core needs of clean, efficient, and low-carbon transformation of coal-fired power, conducting in-depth cooperation in areas such as technological breakthroughs, technology transfer, and talent cultivation, jointly contributing more to national energy security and the green and low-carbon development of the energy industry.
